This course has been specially designed to introduce our students into the world of silversmithing by teaching a variety of captivating and essential skills to either learn something new for fun or begin a journey as a silversmith. In this 8-week program, registrants will learn how to create their own sterling silver material that will be used to make a solid collar necklace and a simple silver ring.
The students begin with a one-ounce bar of fine silver and will learn how to alloy their fine silver into sterling silver and pour the molten metal into a mold to create an ingot. From this point onward the students will learn the process of turning their ingot into the usable material by rolling and manipulating the silver with mills, specialized hammering techniques and draw plates. Lastly, the students will complete the course by learning to sand, polish and finish their one of kind pieces.
With small class sizes and the program spread out over eight classes, you will have the opportunity to have in-depth lessons and more one-on-one assistance.
All of the materials and equipment are provided for this class and no experience is necessary. Please wear close-toed shoes, comfortable clothes, your hair tied back and no scarves or loose clothing (such as long open sleeves that could propose a safety hazard)
